About Colin Boyle

Colin Boyle is a photojournalist based in Chicago. He graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Journalism and a minor in Spanish language in September 2020. He was hired as a photographer and reporter at Block Club Chicago in November 2020 and covers news across Chicago through visual storytelling.

Born and raised in Chicago, Colin was taught by his mother and grandfather, both of whom shared a passion for photography.  His mother, Amy Boyle, is a widely-published photographer in Chicago.

Colin received his first DSLR going into high school and halfway through his freshman year, he began working as a freelance photojournalist. During that time, Colin started his first job with MileSplit, where he worked for eight years as a staff photographer and photo editor.

Currently, Colin’s work focuses on photojournalism, video journalism, investigative reporting, breaking news, bilingual reporting, portrait and event photography. In the past, he has documented four United States presidents, historic events across the world and music legends such as The Rolling Stones.

In college, he had spent extensive time as an intern at The Chicago Sun-Times, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Infobae, one of the most read Spanish publications, IndyStar, and The Daily Northwestern, where he was a Photo Editor for six academic quarters. He also worked with Block Club Chicago as a contributing photographer and reporter in 2020.

While at Northwestern University, Colin’s work was featured in USA Today, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, The Chicago Tribune, The AtlanticDNA Info, Chicago Sun-Times, The Daily Northwestern, Infobae and Northwestern Athletics, as well as various publications via Associated Press and USA Today. He had his work licensed to platforms such as Chicago Magazine, Emily's List and AL Media.
